Isa Kassogue is a leader.
Not only is she the president of her village women’s association, she was recently elected president of the federation of all 14 village associations participating in LWR’s project with shallot growers in Mali. A mother of seven, and a shallot farmer for most of her life, Isa (pictured here in front of the dam LWR built in her village) says the day she was elected president was, “A wonderful day. I celebrated with my family, and thought, ‘today is my day.’ But then I began to think – oh, this is such a big responsibility, how will I do it? Every time I start to feel that fear, though, I look into my heart and I know that I just have to do my best.”
